The advantages offered by the muscle-sparing surgical implantation technique are a great benefit to patients. So why not expand the indication window for the short stem even further? In many clinics, the cementless A2\u00ae stem has already established itself as the standard stem. Even though studies have meanwhile positively assessed the use of some short stems in the elderly, their use in this patient group remains the exception, not least due to economic reservations. However, the elderly patient can also benefit from the advantages of the muscle-sparing procedure. For these reasons, the cemented A2\u00ae stem was developed and the range of indications expanded.<\/p>\n<h3>Indications<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"q_list circle\">\n\t<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Patients with advanced wear of the hip joint due to degenerative and posttraumatic osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis<\/li>\n<li>Avascular necrosis of the femoral head<\/li>\n<li>Acute traumatic fractures of the femoral head or neck, as long as stable anchorage of the implant is ensured<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1613048385312{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}&#8221;]The first patients have already been treated with the new implant in the pilot clinics.
