Endoprosthesis register 2024: Once again top position for the A2\u00ae short shaft system<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

In the seventh year of tracking, it is almost a tradition for the A2\u00ae short stem to occupy a leading position in elective hip replacements. Short shaft care sets new record<\/h3>\n

A total of 58,995 short stem fittings are being tracked in the 2024 reporting year. This means that a short shaft was implanted in 15.1% of total endoprostheses in 2023 – another significant increase compared to the previous year. In around 52 clinics in Germany, more than every second treatment uses a short shaft.<\/p>\n

The EPRD shows better results for short-shaft prostheses than for standard shafts in the period under review so far. The short stems have an average probability of failure of 3.1% within 7 years (standard hip stems with modular head: average 4.3% within 7 years). \u201cOnce again, the cement-free A2\u00ae short shaft shows better performance than average,\u201d says Ulrich B\u00fccken happily. \u201cThis is a great result and confirmation that our design concept of the calcar-guided short stem is reliable.\u201d With 12,241 restorations in the tracking, the cementless stem system is the second most frequently implanted short stem in the registry.<\/p>\n

New in the register: The cemented short shaft<\/h3>\n

Endoprosthesis Register Germany (EPRD)<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”30px”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1730187632569{padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”]The Endoprosthesis Register Germany (EPRD) is a voluntary national register. The register is independent and located at the medical society, so that the evaluated data is meaningful due to the guaranteed neutrality. The aim is to check the long-term performance of endoprostheses and to improve the quality of endoprosthetic care. More than 400,000 artificial joints are installed in Germany every year. In 2023, 378,812 hip and knee endoprosthetics were documented in the EPRD.<\/p>\n
