Welcome!

ARTIQO Newsletter

Can you also no longer expect us all to be able to pursue our vocation and passion again? In any case, we are preparing intensively for the time after the “shut down”, even though there is still a long way to go before things return to normal. We are sure that you too are currently using the time to work through the old and deal with the new. With this in mind, I would like to refer you to our current newsletter, which again contains some interesting topics for you.

If you have a little more time available, I would like to refer you to the possibility to take a closer look at individual sessions or lectures from the last DKOU in Berlin – the webcasts make this possible. You will find the corresponding link in the newsletter.

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to our continuing education program. You can find further information on our website (artiqo.de) or directly via the links in this newsletter.

Enjoy reading and discovering!

Yours Ulrich Bücken

DKOU sessions

With this selection is also the very interesting session “BS27 short stem prosthesis”, which was held on Thursday afternoon. The link below will take you directly to the session. If you are only interested in individual presentations, you can simply fast-forward through the YouTube video until you reach the speaker or topic that interests you most.

3D reconstruction in knee endoprosthetics

A new age has dawned in knee endoprosthetics. With the 3D online planning, which has already proven itself in hundreds of cases, you can now plan the operation individually for your patients.

How do you do it?

You simply load the CT data set of the leg of your patient to be treated into our interactive and web-based planning database.

After only a few days, you will receive a planning proposal for the positioning of the new knee joint that is tailored to your patient. You can evaluate the position of all components on the virtual real model in space and make the optimal prosthesis placement.

How do you implement the planning intraoperatively?

Very simple! Based on the positioning of the components you require, we manufacture the individual instruments for precise positioning. This is custom made, just as your patients want it.

Your administration will also appreciate this, as no investments in infrastructure are necessary. On the contrary – the surgery is faster and you need considerably less material.

4-motion Planning Website

Approval 4-motion® Knee PSA Tibia received

The 4-motion® knee has been clinically proven for more than three years. It is a modern anatomical surface knee, which is implanted with the 3D planning described above. In order to cover all possibilities of 3-dimensional planning and reconstruction, a new tibia was developed and approved according to the criteria of patient-specific alignment (PSA).

You can now plan and insert the tibia anatomically in a range from 87° to 90°. This reduces the need for ligament release and resects only the minimum amount of bone required. With the new truly anatomical tibia, planning can now be done right away.

Approval 4-motion® Knee VEX Inlay received

We have also devoted ourselves intensively to the subject of wear and tear in recent months and have developed our own highly cross-linked and vitamin E enriched inlay (Vitamin E; X-linked = VEX Inlay). The addition of vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and protects the highly cross-linked PE permanently – even in vivo – from harmful oxidation and thus from premature aging.

We have run the wear test required for approval in accordance with ISO 14243-1:2009 up to twice the number of cycles required by the standard and can record excellent abrasion results.

The average abrasion quantity after 10 million cycles is only 3.22 mg / million cycles. This means that the expected abrasion corresponds to about 1/5 of the abrasion of a standard PE. The significantly improved PE is available now.

Horst Weise retired

In the first years under the company name ImplanTec Deutschland and most recently under ARTIQO, Horst Weise actively helped shape the fortunes of our young company.

“For more than 30 years now we have been working together in a spirit of trust” said the managing director Ulrich Bücken during the small ceremony to bid farewell to Horst Weise. “Even at 68 years of age, you are still a role model for the younger colleagues, highly competent, empathetic, closely networked with customers and colleagues and motivated until the last day of work”.

As a reminder of a successful and intensive time, Horst Weise was presented with a figure of the artist Kuno Lange from Mülheim. “Bacchus – as the god of wine symbolizes the joy of life, which we wish you for many years to come” said Joachim Geßner, member of the ARTIQO management.
