Study:

Excellent clinical results of the 4-motion® knee after the first postoperative year

“The multi-centre PMCF (“Post-Market Clinical Follow-up”) study on the 4-motion® knee system shows promising results on the clinical performance of the product in the evaluations after the first postoperative year,” reports Dr. Heidrun Jablonski, Regulatory Affairs, ARTIQO GmbH visibly proud.

“In the study, 125 patients could be examined after the first postoperative year and the results evaluated. The patients were included in one center and treated with a fully cemented 4-motion® knee system with a conventional 3° tibia and standard inlay,” explains Dr. Jablonski further.

“No revisions have been made so far. After a service life of 1 year, the clinical performance of the 4-motion® system can be rated as excellent based on the functional scores Knee Score (KS) and Function Score (FS). After one year, the corresponding values were an average of 89.7 ± 9.2 points for the Knee Score and 89.3 ± 13.7 points for the Function Score. According to literature, values of more than 80 points prove an excellent result (Dowsey & Choong, 2013) .” Jablonski further elaborates on the results of the study.

The accompanying figures 1 and 2 illustrate the improvement in the state of health between the preoperative phase and the 1-year examination. After just one year, the health development has risen from the mediocre range (60 points) to an excellent result of mostly more than 80 points.

This is Dr. According to Jablonski, this is promising progress for the 4-motion® knee system.

“In terms of subjective patient satisfaction, around 85% of the patients examined to date are very satisfied or largely satisfied with their knee endoprosthesis after 1 year. The data so far are promising. Heidrun Jablonski. “For the patients recruited to date, the first 3-year data are expected in early 2022. In addition, further patient recruitment is planned for this year in the current and in two other test centers. In total, the study plans to recruit 260 patients at up to 4 study centers. The 135 other patients will also be able to provide data on the PSA tibia launched last year and the vitamin E-stabilized VEX inlay. A test center will also contribute clinical data on the cementless version of the 4-motion® system.”

The study will collect data up to 10 years postoperatively. ARTIQO will analyze the study results annually and report regularly on the results.
